At one time, various areas of this district were under the rule of Muslim kings. All these feats and historical monuments were created during their rule. Prabajpur Shahi Masjid is one such Muslim feat. It is a historical and historical monument. There is a popular legend about this mosque. And that is, the jinn cleared the forest and built the mosque overnight. There is also a popular rumor that if someone comes to this mosque and makes a vow, it does not fail.
Kaliganj upazila is located 40 miles south of Satkhira district town. Prabajpur is a historical place of Mathureshpur union of this upazila. According to archaeologists, on 24 May 1693 AD in 1104 Hijri, Emperor Aurangzeb ordered the construction of a mosque at Subedar Parbaz Khan for the Muslim soldiers guarding the area to offer five daily prayers. After receiving this instruction, a single-domed mosque was built in this area. The village where his soldiers stayed was named Prabajpur village after him. Later after the construction of the mosque, the mosque was named Prabaj Shahi Masjid after him.
