The Dhaka Times Desk A fire broke out in the hilsa market just before the 1st Baisakh. The price of hilsa in the market is sky high right now. On the 1st of Baisakh, pantha kept hilsa fish in big deep freezers for sale at higher prices. A hilsa weighing two and a half kilograms was caught in the Bishkhali river at Patharghata in Barguna district. The price of this hilsa has increased to 7 thousand taka!
The impact of Bengali New Year has spread across the country. The weight of that hilsa was 2 kg 400 grams in the wholesale hilsa market of Patharghata. This hilsa was sold for 7 thousand taka. The fish was bought by Ram Babu, a fishmonger of Jhenaidah. The fish was caught in the net of Hanif Mia of Ward No. 2 of the city.
When Patharghata BFDC was taken to the market yesterday morning on April 7, about half a hundred people participated in the public auction. Later the fish is sold at the highest price. Meanwhile, people of different professions including fishermen, farmers, blacksmiths and blacksmiths from different areas have come to welcome the new year. So people are flocking from far away to collect hilsa at Patharghata BFDC wholesale fish market. Nurul Amin, President of Patharghata Fish Market Association, said that hilsa fish is less caught in the sea now. But some of our traders had already frozen large hilsa. Now these hilsa are being sold in the market every day due to the demand of hilsa during the New Year.
The condition of the capital is very similar. It is almost difficult to find big hilsa in the market. Hilsa available in the market is very small. Again, the price is very high. This time, there is a lot of doubt about how the Bengalis will get pantha hilsa in the New Year celebration.
