The Dhaka Times Desk After the arrest of Shafiur Rahman Farabi, one of the suspects involved in the murder of science-minded writer and blogger Abhijit Roy, RAB got some information during his interrogation.

Shafiur Rahman Farabi, one of the suspects in the hacking death of Abhijit Roy, was arrested from Jatrabari area of the capital on Monday around 5:30 am. This information was given in a press briefing at the RAB headquarters on Monday afternoon.
Mufti Mahmud Khan, director of RAB's law and media wing, said in a press briefing that Farabi was arrested in the morning from Jatrabari area of the capital. He will be handed over to the police.
Mufti Mahmud Khan, in response to a question whether Farabi has admitted his involvement in Abhijit's murder, said that no criminal admits his involvement at first. Actual information will be available after interrogation. Preliminary inquiries yielded some information; However, due to strategic reasons, all the information cannot be disclosed to the media right now, said the RAB official.
It was further informed in the press briefing that Farabi used to study in the physics department of Chittagong University. But he could not complete his studies. At first he used to write in various blogs, later he started 'Farabi Blog' under his own name.
According to RAB's commentary, Farabi claimed during the initial interrogation that he came to know about Abhijit Roy's writings through blog posts. At one point, he had a disagreement with Abhijit over writing. He claimed that there was no communication between them for the last two years.
However, RAB said that they have received various evidences of Farabi's involvement with Abhijit Roy's murder. For example, Abhijit Roy and his family had been disseminating information among his followers through social media. He also instigated to kill him. Farabi said on his Facebook that Abhijit lives in America with his wife and daughter. His followers living in America are keeping track of him. Another time, Farabi posted a picture of Abhijit's family on Facebook and said, 'Avijit Roy lives in America. So he cannot be killed now. But when he comes home, he will be killed.'
It is to be noted that miscreants hacked Abhijit to death in Dhaka University area on the way back from the Amar Ekushe book fair on the night of February 26. His wife Rafida Ahmed was seriously injured in the attack. He is now undergoing treatment at Square Hospital in the capital. Earlier, Farabi was arrested after threatening to kill the imam because he was conducting the funeral of blogger Ahmed Rajeev Haider, an activist of the Shahbag movement. Farabi was later released on bail.
