BNP leader Abdus Salam, Ershad's adviser who was expelled due to the election, Bobby Hajjaz and former Awami League MP Sarah Begum Kabri have withdrawn from being the mayoral candidates in the Dhaka City Corporation elections. On behalf of Abdus Salam, who submitted his nomination as the mayoral candidate of Dhaka South, lawyer Md. Salim withdrew his nomination on Thursday afternoon.
Ershad's former adviser Bobby Hajjaz has announced his withdrawal from the mayoralty of Dhaka North in a press conference in Banani of the capital on Thursday afternoon.
On the other hand, Sarah Begum Kabri has also withdrawn her nomination paper by announcing that she will not participate in the North City Corporation elections.
Tabith Awal and Mahi B Chowdhury are the candidates of the 20-party alliance in Dhaka South due to the withdrawal of Salam's nomination papers. On the other hand, only Mirza Abbas is the mayoral candidate in the north.
