According to the details of the incident, the driver of the 'Faridpur Express' train from Rajbari to Faridpur started the train and escaped along with the assistant driver. The Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) was able to maneuver the train to stop it after traveling about 26 km in the opposite direction. This incident happened on Sunday morning. The driver, Mohammad Ali, was later arrested. An inquiry committee has been formed.

TT Anwar Hossain stopped the Faridpur Express train going in the opposite direction. He said that the train was supposed to leave Rajbari station at 08.10 am. But at 08.4 in the morning, instead of going towards Faridpur, it started moving in the opposite direction i.e. towards Kushtia. There were several passengers in the train at that time.

TT Anwar said, when it was going in the opposite direction, at first he thought, maybe it was going backwards to take water or fix the line point. But after crossing the border to fix the point and continue in the opposite direction, the passengers started uproar. He then signaled the train to stop. Still the train did not stop, he pulled the shackles. Still the train was moving in the opposite direction without stopping. So he opened the key box and released air from the vaccum box to stop the train. Air in the vaccum box helps the train move and stop. Vaccum boxes are inflated while the train is moving. It makes the compartments lighter. Due to which the bogies can easily be pulled by the engine. The vacuum box is slowly evacuated while stopping again. In this, the compartments become increasingly heavy. Due to which the train stopped.

TT Anwar also said that after opening the vaccum box of 3 compartments and vacuuming the compartments became heavy. Then the train stopped near Babupara Bridge in Pangsha Upazila after going about 26 km as the engine could not pull them anymore. But the train engine was still running. He then managed to stop the engine at 09.04 minutes.

Rajbari Railway Station Master. Kamruzzaman said that since the incident, the driver of the train Mohammad Ali and assistant driver Faisal are absconding. Subhas Chandra Sharma, the director of the train, is being questioned. An investigation committee has been formed in this incident. The driver, assistant driver and director of the train have been suspended. According to the latest news, the driver of the train, Mohammad Ali, has been arrested by the police.
