According to media sources, an aircraft carrier sank in the Pacific Ocean during World War II. It was discovered by experts after 64 years. It is still intact despite being under the sea for this long. This battleship is upside down. And maybe there is a plane inside. The USS Independence is located 2,600 feet underwater off the coast of California's Farland Island.
Last Thursday, US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOA) scientists said that the ship's structure and aircraft carrier deck are well protected and can be seen clearly. An airplane can also be seen in this battleship.
"After 64 years on the ocean floor, Independence is sitting in a state that looks like it's ready to fly," James Delgado, director of NOA and chief scientist of the expedition, told the media. The warship was severely damaged by two nuclear explosions. This is one of the 300 ships or warships sunk off the coast of San Francisco.
Note that the Independence warship was deployed in the Central and Western Pacific from 1943 to 1945. It was then one of the 90 ships assigned to the 1946 atomic bomb test in the Marshall Islands.
