According to media reports, the police administration of that country said that more than two hundred Bangladeshis and Rohingya immigrants detained in Thailand will face trial. The Indian press has given this news by quoting a statement from the Thai police on Thursday. Police said in a statement that they will be prosecuted for illegal entry.
After the recent discovery of a 'mass grave' in a forest in southern Thailand, the local police launched an anti-trafficking operation in that country. According to media sources, more than 250 Bangladeshis and Rohingyas from Myanmar have been detained in the last 15 days.
Thailand Police Deputy Chief Ayek Angsananont told the media that the police have already filed complaints against 187 people. Now the legal process of these cases will begin. It is reported that a committee consisting of police and senior officers is looking into what action will be taken against the remaining 63 detained people.
It should be noted that human trafficking has increased in the country recently. Poor people are being pushed to death by a class of brokers in the name of foreign jobs on the basis of poverty. Time has come to take effective measures to prevent trafficking.
