More than half a hundred people were injured in this incident.
This tragic incident happened around 5 am after Fajr on Friday. The identities of the casualties were not immediately available. It is feared that the death toll may rise further. Those injured in the stampede have been admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Mymensingh Police Superintendent Mainul Haque told the media that 8 people including the factory owner Noorani Talukder alias Shamim have been arrested in this incident.
On receiving information about the casualties, fire service, police and locals rescued the injured and took them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Mymensingh Police Control Room has confirmed the death of 27 people so far.
It is to be noted that the donation of Zakat clothes was announced earlier this morning at the office of businessman Shamim's Noorani Zorda factory next to the Mymensingh Municipal Office.
