ICC is going to find Russo guilty for pushing Tamim

The Dhaka Times Desk ICC is going to find Russo guilty for pushing Tamim Iqbal.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is going to find South Africa's Riley Russo guilty for shouldering Tamim Iqbal in the second ODI of the series in Mirpur yesterday. And according to the rules, Russo has broken clause 2.2.7 of the ICC's Code of Conduct. The ICC will announce the final decision on Russo next Friday.

Tamim Iqbal was bowled by Kagiso Rabada in the first over of South Africa's target of 163 runs in the second one-day match at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium yesterday. After getting out, Tamim started returning to the dressing room at this time. On the other hand, after getting the wicket, Russo went towards Rabada to welcome him. Russo hit Tamim's left shoulder while leaving. Immediately after that, Tamim pointed it out to the umpire. But the umpire was busy taking the ball from the bowler so they did not see the incident. The replay of the incident was shown 3 times after it happened.

Section 2.2.7 of the ICC Code of Conduct states that it is a breach of ICC rules if a cricketer in an international match engages in inappropriate and willful physical collision with another cricketer, umpire, match referee or anyone else on the field. Also, if a cricketer intentionally bumps into another cricketer's shoulder while walking or running, it will also be considered an ICC violation.

Meanwhile, pushing Tamim was not intentional, said South African batsman Farhan Behardin. He said, 'I think Russo was walking towards Rabada to welcome him after he got his wicket. Russo did not even see Tamim. If the umpires watch the video of the match, they will understand that there was no untoward incident.'
