The Dhaka Times Desk Australian Trent Woodhill is Pakistan's temporary batting coach for the Champions Trophy series to be held in England. He will join the team directly in England and play the role of Pakistan's batting coach for 3 weeks in June.
The 42-year-old Woodhill currently plays a support staff role for Delhi Daredevils in the IPL. Besides, he was the assistant coach of the New Zealand team till last year. He also played for the Melbourne Stars team in the Australian Big Bash League.
Pakistan Cricket Board Director Intikhab Alam said, "We invited him to be the batting coach for a short time, he accepted it. I think this is an opportunity for him. If our team feels satisfied with his supervision, we may extend the contract with him.”
Meanwhile, the Caribbean Cricket Board said that they will not be able to play any Test matches with the Pakistan team on the West Indies tour after the Champions Trophy. However, the chief executive of the Caribbean Board, Michael Murryhead, has also expressed doubts about whether this visit will happen. He told Port of Spain, "It is certain that there will be no Test in this tour. Our aim is to organize 5 ODIs and 2 T20Is. But we are yet to finalize the itinerary.”
West Indies are preparing to organize a tri-nation tournament with India, Sri Lanka. That's basically why they decided not to play Test against Pakistan.
