Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhit expressed this attitude in an interview with AP a few hours after the death toll in Savar's rubble exceeded 500. He also denied any negative impact on the garment industry due to Savar's accident. In a brief interview to AP, the finance minister, who is currently on a visit to India's capital Delhi, said Savar's accident will not harm Bangladesh's garment industry. He said - I don't think the current crisis is that serious. It was just an accident. Muhit said, we have taken necessary steps to prevent such incidents from happening again. A comprehensive program has been taken in this regard. I think this initiative will reassure everyone. Asked whether he was worried that foreign buyers might leave Bangladesh, he told AP that such an accident is an isolated incident. Such accidents happen everywhere.
Note that on April 24, the building collapse accident in Savar is considered to be the worst accident in the history of garment factories in the world.
