It is said that 8 crore people of India eat beef or buffalo meat. Among them there are 1 crore 25 lakh Hindus.
According to the latest data of India's National Sample Survey Office (NSSO), 80 million people in India, i.e. one out of every 13 Indians eat beef or buffalo meat. This number is almost equal to the population of Germany. It includes people of all religions from all states of India. Muslims eat beef out of religious belief. So most of these 8 crore people are Muslims.
Livemint, a New Delhi-based newspaper, said that 63.4 million Muslims eat beef or buffalo meat. This number is 40 percent of the Muslim population in India. And 26.5 percent Christians and less than 2 percent Hindus eat cow or buffalo meat. So according to this calculation, 1 crore 25 lakh Hindus eat beef.
