The construction of this mosque in Brunei started in 1988. This mosque was opened to all on the night before Sultan's birthday on July 14, 1994. This mosque was originally a gift from the Sultan to the people of Brunei on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Sultan's accession to the throne.
This mosque can hold 4,000 worshipers at the same time. There are total 4 minarets in this mosque. The craftsmanship, columns and marble stonework inside the mosque are amazingly beautiful.
