The Dhaka Times Desk Dhaka International Film Festival will start from January 14. This festival will start with the slogan 'Better Film, Better Audience, Better Society'.
The festival will continue till January 22. This year's festival will feature 170 famous films from 61 countries including Bangladesh. Rainbow Film Society, the organizer of the festival, gave details about the festival in a press conference held at Dhaka Club on Monday.
Festival Director Ahmed Mujtaba Jamal said, 'Dhaka International Film Festival is one of the most prestigious film festivals in Bangladesh, which is contributing to building a tasteful and positive culture in the country. The festival expresses a strong oppositional expression against the decadence, vulgarity and cheapness that pervades the mainstream of Bangladesh's film industry. The Rainbow Festival is seen as a medium for young and promising filmmakers to connect with the international film scene outside the world.'
The organizers said, this time too the festival can start with the hands of the Prime Minister. If Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina does not get time, then Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhith will inaugurate this festival.
The opening ceremony will be held on January 14 at 4 pm at the National Museum Auditorium. Films of the festival will be screened at National Museum Auditorium, Central Public Library Auditorium, Alliance Française Auditorium and American EMK Center Auditorium in the capital. General audience can enjoy the films by buying tickets at a low price.
