Nitish Kumar announced the ban on the sale of liquor in the state after being re-elected as Chief Minister. Officials said that all country liquor shops in rural areas will be completely closed by next April. It also said that for the first year after that, whiskey, rum or beer will be sold by the government in urban areas. By 2018 it will also be completely closed.
The question arises that if the sale of alcohol is stopped, what will happen to the workers of these shops? In response to that question, it is said that the Chief Minister has fixed the goal of making the liquor traders into milk traders in order to rehabilitate them.
According to media reports, Bihar State Milk Cooperative Organization or as it is called COMFED has been working successfully for the last few decades. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar wants to sell the brand of milk called 'Sudha' in liquor shops across the state under COMFED.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar believes that by doing this, the business of the dairy cooperative group will also speed up along with the unemployment of the liquor shopkeepers and employees.
