In an information published in the media, it is known that the militants have finalized the plan of attack by doing several rounds of Reiki (rehearsal) in these two important buildings! At that stage, these militants were waiting to collect some more companions and enough weapons and ammunition.
Just at such a time, based on secret information, the police conducted 'Operation Storm Twenty Six' operation on July 26 at Taj Manzil's house number 53 on road number 5 of Kalyanpur in the capital. 9 militants were killed in this operation. Another militant named Rakibul Hasan Reagan was arrested by the police in a bullet-ridden state. An intelligence officer related to the investigation said that the arrested Hasan gave these sensational information during the interrogation.
The official also told the media that after the incident, two pen drives recovered from the house as evidence, apart from photos of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban and Bangladesh Television Bhaban, also found a 'layout' of how the attack would be conducted there.
The intelligence officer also told the media that on July 1, Holy Artisan Bakery and Restaurant in Gulshan of the capital, as well as the Shia Mosque in Mohammadpur, were the targets of the attacks on the same day. As part of this, the militants rented houses near these two attack sites (Basundhara residential area and Kalyanpur).
After targeting the attack, the militants carried out several rounds of rekios (drills) at the Holy Artisan Bakery and Restaurant and the Shia Mosque. However, at the very last minute, the militants canceled the plan to attack the Shia mosque in Mohammadpur. Apart from this, black-clothed photographs of militants killed in Operation Storm Twenty-six are also found in that pen drive.
According to the news media, quoting the detective police officer, they went to the hospital and interrogated Rakibul Hasan, who was under treatment, with the permission of the doctors. On questioning him, it was confirmed that he planned to attack important government facilities.
According to the information of the intelligence officer, they did not have enough personnel and ammunition to attack sensitive installations. Because of that, the militants kept waiting in Kalyanpur's hideout to build a large number of members and stockpile of arms and ammunition.
