The Dhaka Times Desk Mahfuzur Rahman, a son of Aj Para village in Bangladesh, has brightened the country by becoming an assistant professor in the finance department of Malaya University, the top government university in Malaysia.
Being an ordinary boy from a village in Bangladesh, he studied in Malaysia and joined the top government university of Malaysia as an assistant professor in the finance department of University of Malaya. Mahfuzur Rahman.
According to media reports, this university, which is number one in Malaysia, is ranked 27th in Asia and 146th in the world. Not only this university, Mahfuzur Rahman is also working as a visiting professor at Malaysia's Management and Science University (MSU). Mahfuzur Rahman came from Bangladesh and did his higher education in Malaysia. He has excelled in every field of study.
Mahfuzur Rahman was admitted to the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) in BBA department in 2006. Graduated first in first class in 2010. Mahfuzur Rahman received three awards for best student overall, best student academic (Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences, IIUM) and best student BBA department for good results.
He has more to his credit. Mahfuzur Rahman received a crest and certificate from the Education Minister of Malaysia as an award. He was dean's list (for good results) in all the semesters while studying BBA. Mahfuzur Rahman received the Excellence Award (Vice Chancellor's Award) for meritorious results in 2007 and 2008.
Not only this, this genius Mahfuzur Rahman of Bangladesh became one of the best 5 speakers of IIUM in Inter Students Resident College Debate Competition 2010. He was also the Vice President of Student Resident College 5 (Mahalla Ali) while a BBA student at International Islamic University in 2007-08.
Mahfuzur Rahman was then Head of Education and Research Department of BBA Association in 2009-10. He was Student Facilitator of Student Circle 1,2 and Co-Curricular Activities at International Islamic University in 2008-09. From 2007 to 2010, Mahfuzur Rahman served as a teacher and student facilitator in the Student Learning and Enhancing Unit.
Besides studies, Mahfuzur Rahman was also involved in various educational activities including motivational speaker, research assistant, teaching assistant. From March 10 to March 17, 2008, he traveled to Thailand as a student facilitator at the English Camp.
Mahfuzur Rahman received an endowment fund (scholarship) from the International Islamic University of Malaysia after completing his BBA. Mahfuzur Rahman got a golden opportunity to pursue a PhD in Finance at the University of Malaya without a Master's degree as he had first division in BBA. Then in September 2011, Mahfuzur Rahman started his PhD at the University of Malaya after receiving the Bright Spark Scholarship. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2015.
Mahfuzur Rahman also received the International Student Center (ISC) Academic Excellence Award from the University of Malaya in 2014 for his outstanding contribution to education research during his PhD. He won the 'BSN Academic Award for the Category of Doctoral' student at the Bangladesh Student Night (BSN) 2015. At the same time, Mahfuzur Rahman also won the Maxis and Hotlink 'Win to Market' idea challenge.
Many of his articles have been published in international journals. He has also presented his research papers in national and international conferences. Currently, this genius of Bangladesh, Mahfuzur Rahman, is working with Beaverial Finance.
According to an information published in the media, the village home of Mahfuzur Rahman of Bangladesh is in Bagadanga village of Nepa Union of Maheshpur police station in Jhenaidah. His father md. Azizur Rahman (Mukul) is a farmer by profession. His mother Daulatunnesa Begum was a simple housewife. He is the youngest among two brothers (Masoom) and one sister (Seema).
In a response to the media, Mahfuzur Rahman said that if a person works hard with the right attitude, concentration, honesty and faith, Allah is sufficient for him. No matter family status, educational qualification of parents, place of birth, he will be successful. If a simple village boy like me can become a teacher in a top government university in Malaysia, I think every student in Bangladesh can do much better than that.'
