The Dhaka Times Desk International media reported that at least 283 people died in a terrible hurricane in the Caribbean region of Haiti.
Haiti's government says 50 people have died in the city of Roche-et-Bateau alone, which was hit by Hurricane Matthew. On the other hand, 80 percent of the buildings in Jeremy, the main town of the peninsula, have collapsed. And 30,000 houses were destroyed in Saad city.
Hurricane Matthew hit Haiti and Cuba last Tuesday with winds of 230 kilometers per hour. Due to the impact of the cyclone, there was heavy rain on the previous day on Monday and on that day on Tuesday. Floods caused by this rain have caused extensive damage in the southern part of Haiti. The collapse of an important bridge makes it impossible to send aid to many affected areas.
Meanwhile, Hurricane Matthew has been upgraded to a Category 4 storm since crossing the Caribbean, a Category 2 hurricane. This storm headed towards the US state of Florida.
After the cyclone, the Haitian government put the death toll at slightly over 100. However, they later announced that the death toll was 283.
