The Dhaka Times Desk Home Minister Dr. Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir said that no political party will be allowed to hold meetings for the next month. This decision has been taken to prevent possible sabotage, he said.
Yesterday, Saturday, the DMP issued a ban on the meeting in front of the National Press Club in the capital. On Sunday, the Home Minister went to Chittagong and said that gatherings will be banned for a month.
It should be noted that yesterday on May 18, Dhaka Metropolitan Police banned all kinds of political programs in front of the National Press Club. According to the instructions of the DMP, no program can be held in front of the press club without their permission until further instructions.
Despite this announcement yesterday, when the leaders and activists of various organizations came to carry out their scheduled program in front of the National Press Club, they faced obstacles from the police. An organization called Mahmudur Rahman Mukti Sangram Parishad, demanding the release of the acting editor of 'Dainik Amar Desh' newspaper, was removed by the police when they went to hold their program.
On the other hand, BNP chairperson's advisor said today, BNP will go for strict agitation if the meeting is not allowed.
