The Dhaka Times Desk Saudi Arabia showed a rare honor to Bangladesh on this Victory Day. Several skyscrapers, including the highest building in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, 'Kingdom Tower' (Buruj Sodaka), were decorated with red and green lights in honor of Bangladesh's Victory Day.
On other days, the Kingdom Tower is illuminated with different lights. But December 16 was a rare day. Only the color of the Bangladeshi flag was shining through the night.
Moreover, greeting messages written in Bengali, Arabic and English languages from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to Bangladeshi people were also seen displayed on large TV screens in different parts of the city. Expatriate Bengalis of the Bangladeshi community are proud to show such respect.
It should be noted that the 99-story 'Kingdom Tower' of the capital city is considered as one of the attractions of Riyadh. The mesmerizing light scattering view from this tower especially at night is in one word unmatched. 300 meters high and built over an area of 1 lakh 85 square kilometers. This tower was awarded in 2003 as one of the 350 buildings in the world by the World Skyscrapers Commission.
