The world's oldest water found in Canada!

The Dhaka Times Desk কানাডার একটি খনিতে ২শ’ কোটি বছরের পানির অস্তিত্ব পাওয়া গেছে। বিজ্ঞানীরা বলেছেন, এটিই হয়তো পৃথিবীর আদিমতম পানি।

কানাডার দ্য স্টারসহ একাধিক আন্তর্জাতিক গণমাধ্যম বলেছে, পৃথিবীর জন্মের ২শ’ হতে ২৫০ কোটি বছর পরই যে পানির স্রোতে ভেসে গিয়েছিলো পৃথিবী নামের গ্রহ, এটিই সেই পানি। ভূপৃষ্ঠ হতে ৩ কিলোমিটার গভীরতায় এই পানির অবস্থান নির্ণয় করেন কানাডার টরেন্টো বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ভূতত্ত্ববিদরা।

গবেষকরা বলেছেন, প্রায় ২শ’ কোটি বছর পূর্বেকার এই জলস্রোত, যা এখনও একটি নির্দিষ্ট এলাকাজুড়ে রয়েছে অনেকটা বদ্ধ জলাশয়ের স্রোতের মতো। গবেষকরা দাবি করেছেন, এটিই পৃথিবীর ‘আদিমতম জলস্রোত’। তবে ভূতত্ত্ববিদদের বিশ্বাস, এই পানি এখনও টিকে রয়েছে আদিমতম অণুজীবকে ঘিরেই। যাদের সম্পর্কে তেমন কিছুই জানা যায়নি।
