New 10 and 20 rupee notes with portrait of Bangabandhu

Bangladesh Bank has released three new notes bearing the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman after five types of notes in denominations of Tk 2, 5, 100, 500 and 1000. These are 10, 20 and 50 rupee notes. To commemorate the historic March 7, Bangladesh Bank decided to release these notes in the market. Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Atiur Rahman officially released these notes on March 7. On this occasion, a program was organized under the chairmanship of Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Abul Kashem in the conference room of the Central Bank. At that time, Deputy Governor Nazneen Sultana and the members of the design formulation committee were present. By releasing these three notes in the market, the portrait of Bangabandhu was added to all the banking notes in Bangladesh. These notes have been signed by the central bank governor. Atiur Rahman. 1 crore 75 lakh pieces of Rs 10, 1 crore 55 lakh pieces of Rs 20 and 2 crore 25 lakh pieces of Rs 50 notes have been printed. However, the new Rs 50 note was canceled after it was released due to a mistake in the spelling of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin's name.

On the occasion, Governor Atiur Rahman said, Bangladesh Bank has started the process of printing the portrait of the Father of the Nation on all bank notes and currency notes in 2009 for the first time. Earlier, we were able to issue five types of notes in the denominations of 2, 5, 100, 500 and 1000 rupees along with 1 and 2 rupees. And today three notes of 10, 20 and 50 rupees have been demonetized. The Governor also said that Bangladesh Bank has initially taken the initiative to print 3 thousand 55 crore notes of all types of notes with the image of the Father of the Nation.

50 rupees note cancelled
Bangladesh Bank canceled the new note of 50 taka due to misspelling of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin's name. The company decided on March 7. Governor's Protocol Officer AFM Asaduzzaman confirmed the matter. Zainul Abedin is spelled 'Abedin' in the new 50 taka note with Bangabandhu's photo released by Bangladesh Bank on March 7. Zainul never spelled his name like that. His signature, various books, Bangla Pedia and his tombstone in Dhaka University do not have that spelling written anywhere.
