Meanwhile, the van driver Imam Sheikh (17) of Tungipara in Gopalganj was very happy to take the Prime Minister of the country in a van. He is full of emotions. He never thought that the Prime Minister himself would ride in his rickshaw! The Imam also spoke to the Prime Minister. Even though he did not want to take money for riding the van, the Prime Minister forcibly gave 500 rupees to the van driver Imam.
Yesterday (Friday), Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina went to her village home in Tungipara, Gopalganj, as if she was lost in those sweet childhood memories. In a simple rickshaw, the head of government went around Kushamakha village on the way!
When such a picture of Bangabandhu's daughter was uploaded on the social media Facebook, there was a huge response. In that picture, Radwan Mujeeb Siddique Bobby, son of younger sister Sheikh Rehana, his foreign wife and two children can be seen in the van.
Narrating his experience, Kishore Imam Sheikh said that around 11:30 a.m. he was standing at gate number one of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's tomb complex in Tungipara almost every day. At this time the security guards searched for a van. They also took a van driver from there. But he returned again as he did not like him.
The van driver Imam said, 'Later the security guards took my van to the Prime Minister. He said that it will be given. Then everyone including the Prime Minister rode in my rickshaw.'
On the way, the Prime Minister asked the Imam, 'Do you drive a van?'
The imam says, 'Yes sir, I drive a van.'
The Prime Minister told him, 'You are damaging my electricity.'
Imam says 'My van runs on battery. So you are saying this. Hearing this, I looked at the Prime Minister and laughed. Then the Prime Minister also laughed. But nothing happened.
From the gate, the Prime Minister took a van to his new residence in Tungipara. He got down and gave 500 rupees to the security guards to give to the van driver Imam.
The imam did not want to take money from the security guards. However, the security guards forced the money given by the Prime Minister into Imam Sheikh's hands. Imam came out of the Prime Minister's residence with money. Imam is the son of Sheikh Abdul Latif of Sarkarpara of Patgati village. Has studied up to the fifth standard. Imam has been driving the van for the past one and a half years.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told BASS that Sheikh Hasina visited the village for about 15 minutes by riding a rickshaw around 11 am. He drove the van till about one kilometer from the Bangabandhu memorial.
Sheikh Rehana's son Radwan Mujib Siddique Bobby, his wife Pepi Siddique, their daughter Leela Tuli Siddique and son Qayas Mujib Siddique were with the Prime Minister in that rickshaw. With Qayas Mujib on her lap, Sheikh Hasina stopped the van at various places in the village and talked openly with the local people and inquired about their well-being. To people's surprise, he walked this one kilometer way on his way back!'
The press secretary also said that the local people opened their hearts to the Prime Minister with surprise and joy and expressed their happiness and sorrows to him. This time when they brought up their various problems, Sheikh Hasina also instructed the concerned officials to solve these problems immediately.
