The Dhaka Times Desk Following the request of the family, 10 Sherpas are leaving today from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, to bring down the body of Everest conqueror Khaled, who died on the way back from the Everest peak under government management.
A tripartite agreement was signed yesterday in Kathmandu between Nepal's non-governmental organization Seven Summit, Nepal Ministry of Tourism and Bangladesh High Commission in Kathmandu. It may take three to five days to bring down the body. According to that, it is believed that it may be possible to bring the dead body to the country on May 31.
First Secretary of Bangladesh Embassy in Nepal Khan Md. Moinul Hossain told the media that Khaled's body will be brought down from Everest by 10 o'clock in the local time of Nepal today. They will bring down the body from the South Summit of the Himalayas at a height of about 28 thousand 750 feet. Every half an hour the rescuers will report the latest situation and video images of the rescue operation through satellite technology. The embassy will monitor the whole process round the clock.
On the other hand, Riaz Rahman and Babu, friends of Sajal and members of Bangla Mountaineering and Trucking Club, have already gone to Kathmandu to bring Khaled's body back to the country.
It should be noted that Mohammad Khaled Hossain died on May 20 while returning from conquering Everest as the 5th Bangladeshi. Following the appeal of Khaled's family, the government is providing the necessary funds to bring his body back to the country. It will cost more than 40 lakh rupees.
