It is a species of large cinnamon colored duck. The scientific name of khakhachkhi means rust-colored hyacinth. The habitat of this bird covers a large area all over the world. They live about 84 lakh 10 thousand square kilometers. Although their number has decreased in recent decades, it has not yet reached an alarming level.
It is found in northern and southern parts of Asia, Europe and Africa. They come mainly as migrants in many countries of the world. The spread of this bird in Asia is from Türkiye to Japan. In winter, they are seen in Haor or rivers of Barisal, Chittagong, Dhaka, Rajshahi and Sylhet divisions of Bangladesh.
