Gaining weight during the month of fasting? Find out the solution

If we are a little aware, we can easily keep our weight under control during Ramadan

The Dhaka Times Desk Due to fasting during Ramadan, we are supposed to lose weight naturally. But in many cases the opposite happens. Many of us would rather pass this time.

Somewhat surprisingly, this is true. Some reasons for weight gain during fasting are:
• Eating more than usual after iftar after not eating all day.
• Eating foods high in oil and sugar.
• Working less or not being at work all day.
• Repeated eating in the period between Iftari and Sehri.

If we are a little aware, we can easily keep our weight under control during Ramadan. For this all the things to follow are:
• Avoid overeating. Eat as much food as you need to satisfy your hunger at Iftar.
• Chew food thoroughly. If you eat quickly without chewing properly, how much you eat fills your stomach. This in turn increases the likelihood of overeating.
• Eat soup and salad first if possible. Since these two foods are low in calories, there is no chance of weight gain if consumed in large quantities.
• Consume homemade fruit juice. It is best not to consume marketed juices as they are high in sugar.
• Do not skip physical activity altogether. Walk outside for at least half an hour every day. This will cause your body to lose extra calories.
• Practice eating fruits and vegetables without eating too much fish and meat.
• Drink at least eight glasses of water after breaking the fast.
