It fascinates travelers with the ancient Cango Cave, its vaults and tunnels. These molded caves have vast halls and lofty spaces, which will create a sense of wonder. There is also a mystery in the origin of the caves.
Many believe that the caves were first discovered by a local farmer named Jacobus van Zyl, after whom the first ax is named. However, no conclusive evidence has yet been found to support this popular idea. In fact these caves are known to have been inhabited since the beginning of the Stone Age. Archeological research has revealed that these caves have been sheltered by humans for a long period of time, more than 40,000 years.
