It is known that on Monday night and Tuesday morning, 21 residential buildings were lost in the sea. Moreover, 10 shops were destroyed by the flood in the market of Saint Martin Island. Although erosion occurred all over the island of St. Martin, the most erosion occurred in the northern and western parts. Most of the cemetery has been destroyed by erosion. Many graves have exposed dead bodies. The boundary of the police outpost has been destroyed. Moreover, a fishing trawler with 6 sailors sank in the sea. The fishing trawler could not be recovered till now, despite the fishermen returning to the shore.
On the other hand, full moon tide water flows over the Teknaf-Shahpari island road and enters the locality in Sabrang Union's Paschimpara, Majharpara, Dakshinpara, Dangarpara, Uttarpara, Madhar Dale, Camppara, Jaliapara, Mogpura, Bilpara, Hariyakhali, Kachubnia, Katabnia, Gholapara, Lafar Ghona areas. Houses and educational institutions, roads, shrimp enclosures, betel nut orchards and betel nut plantations have been submerged.
According to Cox's Bazar Meteorological Department, a low pressure has formed in North West Bay of Bengal and adjacent areas near Odisha coast. Due to this effect, deep circulating clouds have formed in the Bay of Bengal along the coast of Bangladesh. As a result, stormy winds may blow over the coastal areas of the country. But over Cox's Bazar, the stormy wind is blowing now and then. Cox's Bazar, Chittagong and Mongla sea ports have been asked to show local warning signal number 3.
Elderly people of the area say that they have never seen Prabaldwip Saint Martin in Teknaf in Cox's Bazar before such erosion and floods. Experts believe that as a result of flood and erosion, the local people are suffering as well as the tourism industry of the country will suffer a lot.
