This year, on the occasion of autumn Durga Puja, the world's largest bashen sculpture has been built in Assam, India. Its height is 101 feet. This Durga idol is going to enter the Guinness Book of Records.
According to media reports, 40 co-artists worked day and night to create this idol for the Bishnapur Sarvajanin Puja Committee in Guwahati, Assam, India, planned by Nooruddin Ahmed, a famous art director of Assam.
National awardee Nuruddin said that no material other than 5000 bamboos was used in the construction of this statue.
The work of the idol started from last August 1. He told the media that the statue was supposed to be 110 feet high, but due to storm damage, the height was reduced to 111 feet. Organizers hope it will set the Greenage World Record as the world's first tall statue.
