The Dhaka Times Desk Today (Sunday) has started the final examination of primary and secondary education. However, it is still uncertain whether this test will happen in the future or not.
Today (Sunday) the Primary and Secondary Education Completion (PEC) examination has started. The final examination of primary and secondary education held in 7 thousand 267 centers of the country and 12 centers abroad will continue till November 26.
A total of 3 million 96 thousand 75 students are participating in the completion of primary and secondary education this year.
This year, 953 people in 2000 primary and 379 'special needs' candidates are taking part in Ibtedayi. Additional 20 minutes will be given to these special students.
In order to prevent the leakage of question papers, the official in charge of the examination center is providing the question paper 5 minutes before the start of the examination and during this time, mobile phones cannot be used in any examination center, according to the sources of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.
In a press conference organized at the Secretariat, the Minister of Primary and Mass Education Mostafizur Rahman said that since last year, the 64 districts of the country have been divided into 8 special regions and 8 sets of questions are being printed for the final examination of primary and secondary education. A policy of 'zero tolerance' has been adopted in case of negligence or irregularities in the performance of examination duties.
Meanwhile, question papers were sent to 204 centers at district and upazila levels and remote areas under special arrangements to prevent question paper leakage.
Today, as usual, the examination was conducted in each examination center. Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman visited the examination center. But he did not enter the class. Regarding the examination, he said that due to the non-implementation of the examination principles, the preliminary final examination is being conducted this time as well. If the subject is approved then the final examination will not be required.
There is also a reaction among parents on this matter. Board based examination of such young students has adverse effect on their mind. That's why many people think that this method is not good especially for fifth class students. However, from the statement of the Minister of Primary and Mass Education, it is understood that if everything goes well, this exam may not be held next year.
