On May 5, 2011, all types of fuel oil prices were increased by Tk 2 without any public hearing. On September 19, the price of furnace oil was re-fixed by Rs 8 from Rs 42 to Rs 50. Besides, diesel, petrol, octane and kerosene have been increased by 5 rupees. Two months later, on November 10, the government increased the price of all types of fuel by 5 rupees. Last December 29, the price of all types of fuel oil was increased by Tk 5. According to the new price per liter diesel is selling at Tk 61, kerosene at Tk 61, petrol at Tk 91, octane at Tk 94 and furnace oil at Tk 60. Last year too, diesel was sold at Tk 44, kerosene at Tk 44, petrol at Tk 74, octane at Tk 77 and furnace oil at Tk 40. And if the price of fuel oil is increased once again in March or April of this year, it will be the fifth time during the current coalition government's tenure.
