The Dhaka Times Desk Prince Mohammed bin Salman has commented that Saudi Arabia needs to be given 'shock therapy'. He made this comment in an interview given to the Washington Post.

Saudi Arabia needs 'shock therapy' to root out corruption - said Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He made this comment in an exclusive interview given to the Washington Post last Tuesday night.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said, 'You have a cancer spread throughout your body - the cancer of corruption. You then need chemo. If there is no chemo shock then the cancer will spread throughout the body.'
In reference to the last government's much-discussed anti-corruption campaign, Mohammad bin Salman said, "Saudi would not have been able to meet its budget targets if this looting could not be stopped."
It should be noted that in November last year, at least a hundred people, including members of the royal family, princes, top officials and businessmen were arrested on the orders of Prince Mohammad. Many of them are kept in the luxurious Ritz hotel in Riyadh. Many were later released on bail, including Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, a top billionaire and investor in multinational companies. More than 100 billion US dollars have been extorted from these individuals. This fiscal year, the Saudi budget deficit is estimated at 52 billion US dollars. Hundreds of billions of dollars recovered from people detained on corruption charges have rescued Saudi Arabia from that budget deficit for the time being.
