The bird you are seeing is called Desi Shumcha. Its English name is Indian Pitta (Pitta brachyura) which is Pittidae.
One of the most beautiful birds of our country is this native Shumcha. Red belly, golden chest, green blue mixed back gave this bird all the beauty of nature. The black kajal smudges on the eyes on the white neck make it more charming. The bird is not very big, weighing only 55 grams, this bird is truly an incomparable one. The English name of this bird is Indian Pitta (Pitta brachyura) which belongs to Pittidae family.
There are not many Bangladeshis who have seen this bird with their own eyes. It is better known as a rare migratory bird of Bangladesh. This bird can be seen in monsoon and autumn at Shalban in Gazipur. Apart from this, this bird is often seen in the shalban of Tangail, Sherpur, Dinajpur.
These birds usually roam the ground in the bushes and forests and live by eating insects. To rest, they sit on low branches and call out whit-huyo.. sounds.
