So let's find out today how these names are determined, why? Why Storms Are Named: Every object has a specific name even though it has a common name. And this is why the storm is named. Storms were once named based on latitude and longitude. But those names would have been much bigger and harder. Which would have been very difficult to remember and propagate. So these storm names are kept short and simple nowadays. To be easily preached, pronounced and remembered. For example, if it is said that the storm at 5 degree north latitude and 78 degree east longitude is coming towards Bangladesh with strong force. It is very difficult to remember such a big name or promote it quickly. From that, Cyclone Aila is fast approaching Bangladesh. বিশ্ব আবহাওয়া সংস্থা ( World Meteorological Organazation) বিভিন্ন অঞ্চলের উপর ভিত্তি করে আঞ্চলিক কমিটি গঠন করে। এই আঞ্চলিক কমিটিকে সেই অঞ্চলের সদস্য দেশ গুলো ঝড়ের বিভিন্ন নাম প্রস্তাব করে। এই নামের তালিকা অনুযায়ী পর্যায়ক্রমে ওই অঞ্চলের ঝড় গুলোর নাম করণ করা হয়। উত্তর-ভারত মহাসাগরে সৃষ্ট ঝড়ের নাম এই অঞ্চলের সদস্য রাষ্ট্র– বাংলাদেশ, ভারত, পাকিস্তান, মায়ানমার, মালদ্বীপ, শ্রী-লংকা,থাইল্যান্ড ও ওমান নিয়ে গঠিত আঞ্চলিক কমিটি নির্ধারণ করে।

Member countries pre-propose different names for possible storms of a certain period. Names from that list are used when storms occur. And these names are never used a second time.
Here are some storm names and suggested country names – Nisha (Bangladesh), Sidor (Oman), Nargis (Pakistan), Bijli (India), Aila (Maldives), Reshmi (Sri-Lanka), Khai-Mook (Thailand) Also There are cyclones Komen, Roanu, Dianmu and Mora.
