The city's theatres, ancient Greek citadels, mohallas and important buildings, which are considered Grade One archaeological sites, are now turned into cattle pastures, according to media reports.
Many of the city's ancient and expensive mosaics have also been stolen. A huge hermitage is now used as animal shelter. One of the owners, Hussain Yukpinar, said that he alone is struggling to save this ancient city. So now he has called on the government to take steps to protect the city.
It is known that no significant archeological excavations have been carried out in this ancient city in the grip of treasure hunters. Again it is currently catching the eye of treasure hunters. Already the mosaics of the Roman Empire have been stolen.
