The Dhaka Times Desk Not only arrest and remand, but how the money of the customers can be recovered is now demanded to be seen.
RAB has arrested Shamima Nasreen, the wife of the country's popular e-commerce company Evely CEO Mohammad Russell and the company's chairman. Earlier on last Wednesday (15th September) night, a customer had filed a fraud case against them at Gulshan police station in Dhaka, accusing them of embezzling money.
After the operation, the head of RAB Intelligence Khairul Islam confirmed the news of the arrest of these two. Later yesterday, RAB said that the information given by Russell in the initial interrogation shows that the customers will get at least 1000 crore rupees from Evaly. However, they have properties worth several crores of rupees and only 30 lakh rupees in the bank.
Now the question is, so much money, where did it go? What money has he smuggled? That question is also coming up. The biggest question is how will customers get their money back? Many borrowed and invested in Evaly. What will happen to their hard-earned money now?
Now the customers are demanding that at least the principal amount should be returned to them. And they said this demand to the government.
Note that Evely is basically an e-commerce platform based in Bangladesh. In terms of online shopping, Evaly is able to attract everyone's attention with attractive discounts or cashback offers. Despite creating a stir among online shoppers in a short period of time, the company is now on the cusp of customer complaints and criticism. Mohammad Russell founded this e-commerce platform in December 2018.
