On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of 'Ekushe Parishad', a local social and cultural organization of Naogaon, a human diving was performed at the Ganja Society Pond in Naogaon last Friday from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. After a swimming competition in a pond, he performed this feat underwater without oxygen for two consecutive hours. He sat underwater for a long time on a chair tied to a bamboo pole. Every now and then he raised his hands and clapped his hands to attract everyone's attention.
Many who arrived while drowning were honored with various gifts including money. When he is called, he extends his hand and shakes his hand understandingly from the water, and when he is given money as a gift, he also takes money. He is taking and eating apples and other food while sitting on a chair under the water.
Hundreds of thousands of men, women, children and old people came around the pond to watch the diving performance. On this occasion, a village fair is also held there. As Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury was submerged in water for a long time, various questions arose in the minds of the visitors. Different people say different things about this. He also commented that no one can stay under water without taking oxygen for so long without miraculous powers. Naogaon Deputy Commissioner Mizanur Rahman distributed prizes to the winners and losers of the Sata competition and Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury as the chief guest after the diving demonstration. Among others, dignitaries including Superintendent of Police Iqbal Hossain, Advisor to the Parishad former MP Ohidur Rahman, former Principal Professor Shariful Islam Khan, District Press Club President Kayes Uddin, Rafiquddaula Rabbi, General Secretary MM Russell, Daffodils School Principal Mahbub Alam were present.
Fisherman Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury said that even though he was submerged for a long time, no side effects have occurred till date. People enjoy watching me sink. I got many things in life. Now it is my vow to serve the people and work for the welfare of students by being involved with educational institutions. Along with that, he wished to write his name in the 'Greenwich Book' and cross the English Channel with one dive.
Famous Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury was born on November 12, 1971 in Atishwar village of Kachua upazila in Chandpur district. He is the second of five siblings. He joined the Bangladesh Army in 1991 and retired in 2014. Currently working as Assistant Teacher in Mohammadpur AR High School of Debidwar Upazila, Comilla. In May 2000, he was called the fish man because he was submerged in water for a maximum of 72 hours in the pond adjacent to the Kachua Government High School ground in Matlab Upazila of Chandpur. He is the founder of Chowdhury Foundation Atishwar Kachua, Chandpur. Although he was born in Chandpur, he is currently living in Comilla after completing various duties.
