The Dhaka Times Desk Tomorrow, Monday, the verdict in the case of former Jamaat Amir Ghulam Azam accused of crimes against humanity will be announced. The International Criminal Tribunal-1 gave this order on Sunday.
TV and online media reported that the International Criminal Tribunal was formed on March 25, 2010 to try war criminals involved in crimes against humanity during the 71-year liberation war. After 3 years of formation, the judgment of the case of the 5th accused is going to be announced. The judgment of the case of 4 others has already been announced.
However, the judgment of any second case will be announced in the first tribunal through the case of Golam Azam. The Tribunal-1 announced the verdict on February 28 by giving the death sentence to Jamaat Naib Amir Delawar Hossain Saeedee.
The judgment of the remaining 3 cases was announced by the second tribunal formed on March 22 last year. Among them, the tribunal gave a verdict against Jamaat's former Rokan (member) Abul Kalam Azad Bachchu Razakar by ordering the death sentence on January 21. The same tribunal sentenced Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Abdul Quader Molsna to life imprisonment on February 5. Last May 9, the same tribunal announced the judgment of the case by ordering the hanging of Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat Mohammad Kamaruzzaman.
It should be noted that on April 17, the argument of both parties ended. The three-member tribunal headed by Chairman Justice ATM Fazle Kabir left it pending (CAV) for the judgment of Ghulam Azam's case as the judicial process ended.
