The Dhaka Times Desk A group of researchers believe that those who have a lack of vitamin D in their body are at a higher risk of dying from the corona virus.
Researchers say that the most at risk of corona is the countries deprived of sunlight, i.e. 'Nordic' countries. They said this after a study conducted by the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation Trust in the United Kingdom and the University of East Anglia in England. In the study, they found that there was a significant correlation between vitamin D levels and death due to corona. They also tried to find out the cause of vitamin D deficiency along with the death rate due to corona in 20 European countries.
Researchers say that vitamin D supplements can be recommended to protect against corona virus infection. However, the study was not peer reviewed.
Even earlier, a study claimed that adequate vitamin D reduces the risk of respiratory infections.
Meanwhile, earlier this month, a Trinity College Dublin study reported that vitamins play an important role in preventing respiratory infections and strengthening the immune system during infections. These researchers reported that those who took vitamin D supplements could cut their risk of chest infections by more than half.
