It is known that the village, whose real name is Shimulia, has been informally known by this name due to the oddities of the villagers being shown to the world on YouTube. How YouTube is changing the name of this village?
The reason is the scene of a day's cooking in Shimulia village. Golden Chicken Jhal Roast and Poached Eggs. Two to three days a week are cooked like this. A group of school teacher Delwar Hossain of Kushtia's Khoksa Upazila came to the villagers with the recipe. That group includes 16 housewives of the village, 2 cameramen and a total of 30 people.
This quiet village becomes busy as the day progresses. But there is a different taste in this activity, a group of women and men of this village are presenting their daily housework to the world in their own way. They have made themselves known as the sole representatives of the YouTube Village.
In the mood of the festival, cooking starts in the morning. The dresses of all the queens also have the same colored stripes. Everyone cuts onions, garlic and chilies in groups. Another group raised the sound of masala pisha.
Two to three days a week, five hundred to a thousand people in the village eat these cooked meals for free. The entire event can be seen on YouTube.
The YouTube channel called Around Me BD was opened by Liton Ali Khan of the village as a hobby in 2017. At first, he visited various fish markets and took pictures on his personal mobile phone and started uploading them on YouTube. Domestic and foreign visitors gather, financial profit also begins. Because of which his interest in work increases. Liton brought together the people of Shimulia village with his uncle Delwar. He started uploading village cooking on the YouTube channel. Whose current subscribers, both domestic and foreign, are about 24 million people!
However, in 2018, they formed a group and started cooking for the people of the village with their own funds. At first it was done sparingly. As the income of the channel increases, cooking shows become bigger. Apart from the regular common food, elite food like polao, biryani is also served now. Thousands of people in the village eat that food.
World famous food reviewer Sunny visited Shimulia village last October after finding the site. This work centered on YouTube has made Shimulia known to foreigners as 'YouTube Village'. So now everyone knows this village as YouTube village.
