Since the anti-army protests started in the country, so many people have died in a single day. This news was given by Ekushey Television citing the news agency Reuters.
The casualties occurred across Myanmar on March 27. Armed forces day is celebrated by the country's army.
Protesters were threatened to be shot in the head and back the day before due to the day. Ignoring that threat, thousands of Myanmar people took to the streets. And then they were fired indiscriminately.
It should be noted that yesterday (Saturday) was the most violent after the protests that started last February. Such a brutal incident happened on Armed Forces Day of the country. The violence occurred in several cities, including the largest city Yangon, Mandalay. At least 40 people, including a 13-year-old child, were killed in Mandalay alone. Myanmar's local media reported that 27 people were killed in Yangon. 440 people have died in this ongoing protest in the country so far.
The European Union and the United Kingdom strongly condemned the indiscriminate shooting of civilians.
According to a report by the AAPP, one-quarter of those killed were shot in the head. Suspicions are getting stronger that they were shot to kill. Almost 90 percent of the victims were men. And 36 percent are less than 24 years old.
