The law was approved by a compromise between lawmakers in the upper and lower houses of parliament last Sunday amid strong protests against the law.
On July 25, there was extensive discussion between the members of both houses on this issue for 3 hours. However, there is a debate in the parliament about the vaccine passport. Some consider it an interference with civil liberties. When they finally reach an agreement, voting takes place. Then 156 voted in favor of the vaccine passport law and 60 voted against. 14 members abstained from voting.
Due to this law, the entire France was once again shaken by protests. More than 160,000 people took part in the protest rally and opposed it. Many people were arrested during this time.
Last week, the country's President Emmanuel Macron issued directives on the health side. It says that this side is required in places where more than 50 people gather, such as cinemas or nightclubs. This pass will also be made mandatory for air travel and inter-train travel from August.
