He is doing diplomacy as a last ditch effort to resolve the country's political deadlock. Now 16 crore people of the country are looking towards Taranaki. Can he save Bangladesh from a certain uncertainty?
There are such questions among the 16 crore people of the country. Many have said that we as citizens of an independent country have to accept the mediation of foreign friends. If so, then the political leadership of the two major parties of our country is responsible for this. The representatives of the business community and civil society have failed because of their monogamous attitude. There is no other way to save the country from a certain violent situation.
And I can't thank the United Nations for that. Because they have come to the side of Bangladesh as advocates. And so this special envoy of the UN Secretary General has been running for the last 3 days from morning to night. Once this team, another time another team. In this way, for the last 3 days, he has been trying to bring the two parties to a compromise. If there is a compromise, peace will be established in the country through a peaceful election if all the parties come to the polls.
The opposition party has been agitating for the past two years on the caretaker issue. But the ruling Awami League does not want to go unconstitutional with the powers given in the constitution. Because of this, there is a wide gap between the two major parties. In the end, Awami League decided to hold elections with their grand alliance partners. And since there is a constitutional obligation, the Election Commission also announces the election schedule. But a major problem arose due to the withdrawal from the election of the major coalition partner of the Jatiya Party. All the friendly countries of the world did not see this well. If there is no Jatiya Party, new questions arise about the acceptability of elections.
In such a situation, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon urged the two leaders to resolve the crisis through a phone call and then a letter. But there was no result. Leaders of FBCI, the top organization of businessmen of the country, also tried to solve the crisis. They held meetings with the Prime Minister and tried to convince the opposition too but the result was zero. Then a representative group of civil society Dr. Several representatives of civil society including Kamal Hossain, Sultana Kamal, eminent jurist Shah-Din Malik met His Excellency the President and sought his intervention to resolve the crisis. But there was no result even after all these courtings. The country is going through uncertainty and violence. The communication system of the entire country has broken down due to strike-blockade. Train lines are being uprooted, cars are being set on fire, innocent people are being burnt. The resources of the country worth thousands of crores of rupees are being wasted. Trade and commerce are coming to a standstill - all in all, the country is in a deep crisis.
In such a situation, this special envoy of the United Nations came to solve the crisis. He has spoken to almost all major parties multiple times over the past three days. He will try his last today. Bangladesh now has three options. Which will the political leaders of Bangladesh choose? The 'Rajdhani Express' of the UN envoy Oscar Fernandez-Taranco did not reach its destination until last night. After the last meeting with the CEC, he pointed the fate of Bangladesh politics on 4 'ifs' - first: political will. Second: Leadership. Thirdly: Concession mindset and lastly peaceful dialogue to come to a solution. If the 'Rajdhani Express' derails before reaching its destination, then anyone's hair will stand up to imagine what will happen to the country.
In such a complicated situation, the UN envoy came to our country as an 'angel'. If the political leaders of our country evaluate this UN envoy and come forward to solve the crisis, then peace can return among 16 crore people. And if this opportunity is not utilized, then the country will rush towards the violent situation again through elections without opposition - which no one wants.
