The Dhaka Times Desk After the Test and T20 matches, the first one-day match of the ongoing series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka is starting from Monday in Dhaka. Bangladesh team is very confident about today's ODI match.
Bangladesh played well and lost in the last two T20 matches against Sri Lanka in this tour, which the team management feels is a very good success against one of the best teams in the T20 format. This is what team captain Mushfiqur Rahim said.
Mushfiqur Rahim said in the press conference, "Though I cannot play in the T20 match myself, I keep all the news regularly. I have seen the whole game. Bangladesh has played well, if this consistency is maintained we will definitely do well in the upcoming T20 World Cup.”
Mushfiqur Rahim also said, "Although I could not play T20 due to injury, I can play one-day matches. However, the injury is not completely healed now. But having played for so many days with a minor injury has become a habit, I will be on the field from the first ODI."
According to team sources, though Mushfiqur Rahim will be fielding, he is not playing regular wicket-keeper duties. Instead of Mushfiqur Rahim, Enamul Haque or Shamsur Rahman will be the wicket keeper.
As the team's opening batsman, however, Tamim Iqbal is uncertain to play in the first ODI due to a neck injury, but Bangladesh will wait for Tamim until the last moment. In the end, if Tamim is unable to play, Enamul will open in Tamim's place.
Due to adverse weather conditions in Dhaka, there is doubt about the first ODI being held on time. However, according to the sources of the Meteorological Office, even if it rains in the morning, it may be sunny after noon. In that case, Mirpur's improved field management is enough to start the game quickly.
