The Dhaka Times Desk do you know Dear Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) used to observe Ramadan in the holy month, if his beloved ummah observes Ramadan in the same way, then surely Almighty Allah will cover us with the veil of mercy.
Let's know how our beloved Prophet (PBUH) used to fast in Ramadan-
On the arrival of Ramzanul Mubarak, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) used to adorn the days of fasting with all the instruments of worship. He used to get ready for all worship. He used to take Sehri and Iftar with great interest and anxiety. He would break his fast as soon as it was time. He used to eat Sehri a little late. Had iftar with wet or dry dates or little water. He also liked wet dates in Sehri. His Sehri and Iftar were very simple. In a narration of Tirmidhi Sharif, it is mentioned that the Prophet (PBUH) used to break his Iftar with a few wet dates before the Maghrib prayer. If wet dates were not available, he would take ordinary dry dates. If he didn't have that, he would break his fast with a little water. (Tirmidhi)
In a narration of Nasa'i Sharif, Hazrat Anas (RA) said, "The Messenger (PBUH) addressed me and said, 'O Anas, I desire to fast, feed me.' I placed some dry dates and a bowl of water in front of him. He accepted it after Belal's first adhan." This was the Sehri and Iftar of the Prophet (PBUH). Such was the pattern of iftar of his beloved Companions.
At the end of the Iftar, the prayer that the Prophet (PBUH) used to recite was, 'Jahabaz-Jamau, Wabtallatil Uruku, Wa Chabatal Azru Insha Allah.' That means thirst is quenched. The veins and veins have been moistened and the reward has been determined by the will of Allah. (Abu Dawud)
But what are we doing now? The way we are doing Iftar and Sehri has royal standards. Here festivities and luxuries have taken the place of feeling poor and miserable. We as Muslims must follow the example of our Prophet (PBUH) during Ramadan. Remember that the law of Islam is a system of eternal life.
