The Dhaka Times Desk Erdogan's country Türkiye is about to receive the first shipment of US F-35 fighter jets. The US will provide 30 aircraft to Turkey in the first phase. This information was given by the Turkish daily Sabah.
It is known that in 1999, Turkey signed an agreement with the United States to buy 100 F-35 fighter jets. According to that agreement, the United States will hand over the planes to Turkey in 2018. Of these, 30 aircraft will be handed over within a few days. Therefore, Türkiye has completed all preparations.
Turkish Defense Minister Nuruddin Jankili said that Ankara has fulfilled all the commitments made in the agreement regarding the purchase of fighter jets. More than $800 million has already been paid. However, since the signing of the agreement, several US lawmakers have been opposed to providing F-35 fighter jets to Turkey.
