The Dhaka Times Desk MRP on technology products is effective tomorrow from July 22. MRP policy has already been finalized for this purpose. Under this, MRP stickers will be compulsorily attached to technology products from July 22.
The finalization of the MRP policy was announced at a discussion meeting titled 'MRP policy implementation, process and preparation' at the BCS Innovation Center in Dhanmondi of the capital on Thursday.
BCS President Engineer Subrata Sarkar read out the proposed MRP policy at the beginning of the meeting. According to the MRP policy, it has been made mandatory to affix the MRP sticker on all related parts including computers from July 22. Penalty has also been provided for selling computers or computer parts for more than or less than the sticker on the technology product. If any organization violates the rules, there is a discretionary penalty provision. Warning notice, cancellation of pending orders by suppliers, importers, distributors, withdrawal of membership of BCS with a minimum fine of Rs.
It is known that this policy has been formulated to protect the interests of manufacturers, authorized importers and suppliers, retailers, business development and the interests and satisfaction of consumers in the business of computers and related parts or products. The policy is divided into total 5 chapters. The first chapter contains the introduction, the second chapter contains the content, the third chapter contains the implementation process, the fourth chapter contains the punishments and the fifth chapter describes the miscellaneous issues in detail.
It was informed in the meeting that it has been decided to keep the same price in all cases for the sale of technology products. In this case there is no chance for customers to be cheated. If there are multiple importers of a product, all the importers sit together and fix the same price. Distributors can buy computer products at the same price from each importer.
It is known that if there is any complication between the buyer and the seller regarding the implementation of MRP policy or compliance with this policy and both parties raise their complaints in writing with the association, the association will also take initiative to resolve the problem through reconciliation between the two parties. However, it has been informed that prevailing law will be given priority in solving the problem.
It is reported that the National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection will provide full cooperation to implement this MRP policy of BCS. It was assured in the meeting that the computer dealers will also cooperate for the implementation of this policy.
