Here is the travel details for 2 people, if you want more people can go together. You have to take a direct bus from Dhaka to Kaptai at 10 pm on Thursday (fare 550 taka) so that you can catch the local boat from Kaptai at 8.30 am on Friday. Because the next local boat is at 10:30. If you want you can also take reserve boat (rent 1000-1500 taka). Reach Kaptai early in the morning, have breakfast and take return ticket at 8:30 pm on Saturday. Because this is the last bus from Kaptai to Dhaka. Kaptai Ghat is a direct walk from the bus stand. The boat leaves at exactly 8:30 (not 2 minutes earlier or later). Rent is 55 rupees.
On this boat journey of around 2 hours, the beauty of Kaptai Lake will make you forget your night bus journey. Army's first check post will be on the way. National identity card should be shown there. After reaching Bilaichhari, you can go straight towards Hospital Ghat. There you can fix 2 rooms on 'Quiet Boarding'. (Double bed room for 4 people 500 taka, single bed room for 2 people 300 taka - Fixed).
After that fix the boat for two days. 2800-3500 Tk for boat rental for 2 days 4 showers. Get ready at the hotel within 15-20 minutes and board the boat. Before departure, you will find a hotel named 'Bhatghar' from where you can take packed lunch (egg bhaji+aloo bharta+dal+rice = 65 taka).
After 30 minutes reach Muppochhara trail head (Bangalkata) around 11:30 AM. If you tell the boatman, the boatman will fix the guide (Tk 500-Fixed). After about 1:30 hours of trekking you will reach Muppochhara. You will see 5/6 small springs on the way. The face of N'kata Jharna has been broken due to landslides, so don't waste time visiting the face. After seeing the beauty of the fountain for about 1 hour (read splashing in the water) you will arrive by boat. After getting off the boat and walking for about 1:30 hours, you can see the tree-lined waterfall. In this case, no guide is needed because the boatman will take you, talk like that. In this way you will return to the hotel after completing the first day's journey. After eating dinner (mountain chicken+potato bharta+dal+rice = 110 taka) you will sleep very early because you have to get up at 5 am the next day.
Let's say here that if you don't make good use of time then you won't get time to visit Gahkata Jharna. In this case, you can spend time visiting Kaptai Lake by boat in the afternoon.
Get up at 5am on Saturday morning and get ready to leave by 5:30am on the boat. While having dinner at night, order breakfast (Bhunakhichuri + Dimbhajir = 60 taka). They will pack it up in the morning. Take a pitcher of water with you. After about 2 hours you will reach Uluchhari. There will be 2 more army check posts on the way.
You have to take a small dinghy boat from Uluchhari. 4/5 people can sit in each boat (Tk 300). Also as a group (renovation contribution 200 taka + guide 500 taka =) 700 taka - Fixed to be paid. After a 20 minute boat journey, you have to start walking. You have to cross 2 hills on the way. About 1.45 hours you will reach Dhuppani Para by passing many friends. There is a shop here for something light to eat. After this the most risky slope has to be crossed. After 25-30 minutes you will reach the desired destination - Dhuppani Jharna. A glimpse of it will make you forget 4.5 seconds of your 4:50 hour journey. There is so much wind that sometimes it becomes difficult to keep balance. The water of this spring, which is more than 100 feet high, crumbles down and creates a mist. This is why it is named Dhupani Jharna. Because the environment is so tightly packed, there are so many water particles in the air that you can't get any electronic device out—unless it's waterproof.
You will get about 1 hour of bathing time here. If you want to go down to the bottom of the waterfall, you must take the help of a guide. Because in some places there are about 6 feet holes and large random stones under the water. Must leave by 11 o'clock. On the way back you will see Dhuppani temple. You have to leave Dhuppani Maya by 11:30 at the latest or you won't be able to catch the last local boat from Bilaichari at 4:30.
Caution:
- You must move with the times. Because here local boat + return bus from Rangamati (8:30 pm) runs at sharp time.
- There is no SIM network here except Teletalk and Robi.
- Dhuppani is a place of pilgrimage for a Buddhist monk. So don't come here and talk loudly.
