Video footage on Turkish TV of missing journalist Khashoggi [VIDEO]

The Dhaka Times Desk Some CCTV footage has been circulated in Turkish media, which it claims is evidence of a conspiracy in the disappearance of Saudi dissident and journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The video shows alleged Saudi intelligence entering and exiting Istanbul's airport. Khashoggi, a staunch critic of the Saudi monarchy, entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2. But since then he has been missing.

Turkish authorities say he was murdered. However, Saudi Arabia denied this allegation.

What is in that video?

According to the BBC, the video, which was aired on Turkish TV channel RTR, was obtained from CCTV cameras. It shows how many cars are entering the Saudi consulate. Among them, the Turkish authorities are very interested to know about a black van.

The video shows a group of Saudis entering Istanbul airport, checking into a hotel and then leaving the country.

Turkish investigators are also looking into two Saudi Gulfstream jets. Both these planes landed on 2nd October. Khashoggi has been missing since that day.

CCTV cameras captured the scene of Khashoggi entering the consulate. But there is no evidence of his coming out.

Turkish newspaper Sabah reported that 15 members of the Saudi intelligence force were involved in the journalist's disappearance. Police are currently examining around 150 CCTV cameras.

Türkiye says it will also search the Saudi consulate. On the other hand, Saudi Arabia says it will cooperate with any investigation. However, the Turkish government is demanding that the Saudi government must prove that Khashoggi left the consulate.

Meanwhile, the mysterious disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi has been abuzz in the Western and Middle Eastern media for several days - but now it has taken the form of Puradastu's murder mystery.

Jamal Khashoggi, 59, has been living in exile in the United States for some time, a staunch critic of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The US Washington Post quoted a source as saying that a special team of 15 was sent to kill Jamal Khashoggi.

Why did journalist Jamal Khashoggi come to the Saudi consulate?

The purpose of Jamal Khashoggi's visit to the consulate was to obtain a certificate of divorce from his ex-wife, so that he could marry his Turkish girlfriend, Hatis Cengis.

Before entering the consulate, Jamal Khashoggi handed over his mobile phone to Miss Chengis and entered the building.

Ms. Genghis told the media that Jamal Khashoggi was very upset and stressed at the time because he had to enter the building.

He also said Jamal Khashoggi told him that if he did not leave the consulate, he should call an adviser to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and report the matter. So why did Jamal Khashoggi say that? But was he already under any threat? This question has arisen.

He said he waited outside the consulate from 1pm local time on the day of the incident (Tuesday) until after midnight. But still he did not see Jamal Khashoggi coming out of the consulate.
