It is known that the UN Human Rights Council reviews the report of the human rights situation called 'Universal Periodic Review' every four years. It is mandatory for member countries to attend this meeting. In this meeting, the US delegation also said that they condemn the premeditated murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
The US delegation said that 'it is important to adopt due process for a thorough, thorough and transparent investigation before revealing the mystery of the murder.'
The US has long supported Saudi Arabia's human rights abuses, but last week called for an end to airstrikes in Yemen.
On the other hand, Sama Hadid, the director of the Middle East chapter of the international human rights organization Amnesty International, said in a statement that, "UN member states should break their silence to stop Saudi Arabia's cruelty in order to prevent further human rights violations by Saudi Arabia in Yemen."
Sama Hadid also said that UN member states have been deliberately ignoring the Saudi government's long-standing persecution and extrajudicial killings of critics such as journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
The Saudi delegation at the meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council expressed regret over the killing of Jamal Khashoggi and said that Riyadh is investigating the matter and will bring the culprits to justice. The head of the country's human rights commission, Bandar Al-Aiban, led the Saudi delegation to the UN Human Rights Council.
It should be noted that not only Yemen, especially Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was brutally killed by being detained in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, and the body was mutilated and disappeared all over the world. The United States, which is known as the most ally of Saudi Arabia, is now unhappy with the actions of Saudi Arabia.
